Dear NE Seattle Catholic Community,
While Fr. Bill Heric is away celebrating a family wedding, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to belong to a parish family.
Weddings have a beautiful way of reminding us who we are. They gather people from different places, backgrounds, and even perspectives, all centered on something deeper than themselves: love, commitment, and the promise of walking together. In many ways, that’s exactly what our Church is meant to be.
In my role as Director of Communications, I have the unique privilege of seeing the full picture of our parish family. I see the emails, the announcements, the ministries, the moments both big and small. And what continues to stand out to me is this: what we have in common as Catholics is far greater than anything that could divide us.
We are united in the Eucharist. We are grounded in the same Gospel. We share the same desire to grow in faith, to serve others, and to belong to something meaningful. Even when we come from different parishes, traditions, or personal experiences, those differences are small in comparison to the foundation we share.
As we continue walking this journey together as one parish family, especially during this time of coming closer together, I’m reminded how important it is to keep that perspective at the center. Unity doesn’t mean we are all the same. It means we recognize the deeper bond that holds us together.
My hope for all of us is that we continue to lean into that unity. That we choose connection over comparison, and community over division. That we show up for one another, not just in the big moments, but in the everyday life of our parishes.
Even in Fr. Bill Heric’s absence this week, the life of our parish family continues in beautiful ways, through your presence, your participation, and your faith.
Thank you for being part of it.
With gratitude,
Susie Lane

PHOEBE CIRCLE & RACIAL SOLIDARITY NETWORK REFLECTIONS AT MASS
This weekend, members of our parish family will offer brief reflections that connect the Sunday readings to Archbishop Etienne’s pastoral letter, A Well-Ordered Society, Rooted in Truth, Justice and Peace.
This collaboration between the North Deanery Racial Solidarity Network and our Phoebe Circle invites us to more deeply reflect on and live out the message of the pastoral letter.

PARISHIONER SPOTLIGHT:
Diane Moseley
Originally from Texas, Diane Moseley has been a joyful and faithful presence in our parish family for the past 16 years. She calls Our Lady of the Lake home, where she was first drawn by the inspiring homilies of Fr. Tim Clark—and where she continues to find a warm, welcoming, and active community that keeps her coming back.
Diane enjoys spending time walking in nature and curling up with a good book to relax. While she appreciates both the beach and the mountains, what she treasures most is connection—especially her weekly calls with her four sisters and two brothers, who live across the country. These family calls began in 2020 and have remained a meaningful rhythm in her life.
A fun and surprising fact about Diane: she fulfilled a childhood dream by dancing ballet on pointe at age 35!
Diane is deeply involved in parish life through the St. Camillus Hospital Eucharistic Ministry Program, where she brings the Holy Eucharist to patients and families at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She describes this ministry as uplifting and spiritually rewarding. She is also a devoted member of the Mother Teresa Guild of Our Lady of the Lake Altar Society, helping care for the sacred spaces of the church and supporting special liturgical events and charitable efforts.
When asked what she loves most about our parish family, Diane shares, “How cheerful, warm, and welcoming the members of our parish family are.”
If you’re new or considering visiting, Diane offers this invitation:
“Please consider joining me at Our Lady of the Lake for Mass. That will give you an opportunity to worship with a warm and welcoming community.”
A balance of early bird and night owl, a fan of both coffee and tea, and someone who prefers salty over sweet—Diane brings her whole self to our community, and we are so grateful for her presence.
FR. BILL HERIC SHARES HIS WITNESS ON
WOMEN IN THE CHURCH
In this powerful witness, Fr. Bill Heric reflects on his years of ministry and the vital role women already play in the life of the Church. He shares his belief that recognizing women as deacons would enrich the Church’s mission and more fully reflect God’s love in action.
